Pauline Swanson
Pauline Swanson is a life-long resident of Geneseo, IL & a 40 yr. member of GAL. She is a wife, mother of 8, grandmother of 15, & great-grandmother of 7.
Excluding early childbearing/rearing years and those when Pauline worked as a District Manager's Secretary in the Quad Cities for 10+ years, she has been very active in GAL, serving 2 terms as President and several as Secretary. For a number of years, she has also chaired/co-chaired events such as the League's Christmas Forest & Maple City Show. Pauline's primary medium is oil, but she has also produced watercolors and has tried her hand at sculpture as well. Very early (around the age of 4 or 5), Pauline began to explore art by drawing and was, by circumstances, confined to that medium until high school art classes. There are few subjects she does not find fascinating, but her favorite subject is people. She is especially fond of children even though they are the most difficult to capture. Though there never seems to be enough time to paint nearly as much as she would like, Pauline is committed to producing as much artwork as she can as she feels painting is a 'necessity' for her--something she 'needs' to do. Pauline has accepted commissions, especially for portraiture, and has, just often enough to keep her motivated, sold her artwork, as well as gifting it, particularly to family members who have admired a certain painting. Comissions and/or sales can be arranged by contacting the artist at GAL or through her email: angelsite@geneseo.net Rosalie F. Black
Rock Island, IL
Rosalie graduated from Kansas State University with a BFA (Bachelor's of Fine Arts) in 1997. Since then, Rosalie has enjoyed being in juried shows both in Kansas and Illinois. She won the Jean Sieben Memorial Award in the Maple City Fine Arts Exhibit. Kathy WilliamsKathy grew up on a farm in Northeast Iowa and now lives in Atkinson, IL with her husband and cats. She enjoys looking at art in museums & galleries and the process of creating work (especially with friends and family during work sessions and classes at GAL). Some of the mediums Kathy works in are watercolor, acrylic, oil, mosaic, & photograph and is currently learning screen printing.
Jerry Hahn
Jerry was born and raised in Rock Island County, IL., attended Hillsdale schools, and graduated Riverdale High School. During these childhood years, he learned basic BW photography from his father and taught himself lab skills in his basement darkroom.
Hahn earned a Business Administration degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1961. While at IWU, he did public relations, yearbook, camera and lab work, and summer work at the John Deere Tech Center in Moline, IL. As a senior, Hahn hung the first one man show in the school's 100 year history. The exhibit consisted of BW street photography shot in Chicago and Mexico City. After college, Hahn began a three year U.S. Army enlistment, attending Photo-Lab Tech school followed by photo duty (still, movie, & lab) in California and Nuremberg, Germany. During this time, he began personal BW and color transparency, travel and fine art shooting on the streets of Nuremberg and in nine European countries. Upon returning to the U.S., Hahn worked for 11 months as a civilian for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, documenting the flood-of-record of the upper Mississippi River. Hahn finished his formal working career as a Human Resources Manager for the civilian U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1997. Over the years, he worked as a free lance wedding photographer and part-time news-sports, commercial, fine arts, and travel photographer, including photo sales (2005-2007) to a major Alaska travel publication. Awards include a national magazine contest award in 1964, Geneseo Maple City Show awards, and recognition in 2006 for his loan of a series of 1960s BW photographs depicting candid campus life from 1957-1961 to the alumni publication. Subject matter of interest today is primarily landscape, nature, wild life, real-life abstract, and street images, all on film, both in color & BW. Paul Terpening

Bethany Lowe www.BethanyLowe.com
Bethany Lowe is a self-taught artist whose love of antiques and holiday traditions has led her into the world of design. Beth began her career as an artist in 1987 when she created her first Nicholas in “the Nostalgia for Nicholas Collection.” Since then her line has expanded rapidly and is marketed through specialty shops, museum shops and galleries throughout the world. Many are based upon folk art legend characters from around the world. However, her most popular designs have been inspired by her own imagination and life experiences.
Through Beth’s work, everything old becomes new again as she captures the warm memories of her childhood growing up on a Midwestern farm. Holidays were a magical time for Beth’s family and the small community she grew up in with costume parties, mummer’s parades, pumpkin - carving contests, and trick-or-treating through the neighborhoods. Families went for horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skated together on country ponds, went caroling door to door, and built snow forts and snowmen to greet passersby. As a child, one of Beth’s favorite traditions was creating May baskets from paper and flowers - special gifts to be hung on the doors of friends and family. Years later, these special experiences are reflected in Bethany’s artwork with her new whimsical collections of holiday decorations for your home. Today, as she shares her imagination and memories with you, Bethany hopes to inspire fresh new traditions for your family. -bio taken from Bethany's website www.BethanyLowe.com Visit the site to see her newest collections! | Jessica Bunce
