Childrens' 2nd Saturday Art Classes
Art classes, for children ages 7-12, have been held on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the GAL gallery & have been wildly successful (and a lot of fun)! Classes feature topics such as book making, water colors, pastels, paper mache, print making, painting on canvas, repurposing old windows, basket weaving & more.

  • Call 309-944-4402 to register 
  • Preregistration is preferred, but walk-in participants are welcome!
  • Classes are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10a-12p.
  • $10 per participant (ages 7-14).
  • Next Class = January 14, 2012  & February 11th (Print making & Japanese book making)

Purchase of Print Funds Scholarship

The "Music Festival" prints sold at the GAL gallery provide funding for youth art scholarships.  These prints, by the late GAL artist De Graham, have been updated and are being sold as 11x14 matted or framed prints. Please stop by the gallery to take a look at/purchase these prints.  They make great gifts & are a fantastic way to support GAL and the community.

Congratulations Jean Hahn!
Jean's entry into the Christmas Forest was a beautiful tree called "Simple Elegance."  Jean's tree won the People's Choice Award!  Stop by the gallery to see beautiful, season creations!

May: Annual Maple City Fine Arts Exhibit (Thank you to The Cellar Restaurant for hosting our reception, to Melissa Herbert-Jonson for serving as juror, to all the GAL volunteers & to all the artists who made this event such a success. The show included 8 students artists & 39 adult artists (with a combined total of 125 pieces). Work will continue to be on display at The Cellar Restaurant 137 S. State St. Geneseo, IL & at the GAL gallery. 

May 2011: Midori violins exhibit & fundraiser (Learn more about the Midori project by clicking here.) GAL members Pauline Swanson & Sharon  Michaelson donated their time & talent to create beautiful violins for this worthy cause. View Pauline & Sharon's painted violins in the slideshow below--click on each violin to view.

June 2011: Geneseo Art & Music Festival
GAL presented awards to Gene Brack Originals for his "Best of Show" booth & to Karen Morton for "Most Creative Booth."  GAL presented scholarship awards to Elizabeth DeMay, Jen Barks, Ashley Buck, and Rochelle Canfield. These students will be attending the 2011 Eastern Illinois University art school & will present the works created at this camp later this year at Geneseo Art League.  These talented students are definitely artists to watch! Thank you to all who volunteered & visited our booths at the festival. Thank you to the Geneseo Kiwanis club for donating funds for the arts supplies used in the youth area booth (which raised funds for the 2012 youth scholarships). Thank you to The Geneseo Foundation for providing funding for the 2011 scholarships. Your support means so much to GAL, its members, the scholarship recipients, & the community.
